Former Oklahoma St. player Parrack dies (AP)

Doyle Parrack, who played on a national championship basketball team and later coached at three NCAA Division I schools in Oklahoma, has died. Parrack, 86, died late Friday in Perkins, said his son, Jim Parrack. Parrack had suffered from Parkinson’s disease in recent years and developed pneumonia during the last two weeks, his son said.

Former Florida basketball player Teddy Dupay was bound over for trial on charges of rape, aggravated sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping. Prosecutor Paul Christensen said Dupay, 29, pleaded not guilty to all three charges during a preliminary hearing Monday in 3rd District Court in Park City. Richmond fires 2 coaches for violations (AP)

The University of Richmond men’s and women’s basketball teams violated NCAA rules by contacting recruits in hundreds of e-mails and phone calls, and the two coaches involved have left the school, according to a posting Monday on the school’s Web site. Richmond athletic director Jim Miller declined to identify the coaches and told The Associated Press they had not been fired.

Notre Dame will renew basketball rivalries with UCLA and Indiana this season. Notre Dame ended UCLA’s NCAA-record 88-game winning streak in 1974. The Irish will face the Bruins for the first time since 2005 when they play at Pauley Pavilion on Feb. 7. Indiana, which returns only one scholarship player, will play Notre Dame for the first time since 2004 as part of the Maui Invitational on Nov.

A man who pleaded guilty in the beating death of former Villanova basketball star Howard Porter last year was sentenced Monday to life in prison without parole. Rashad Raleigh was sentenced as part of a plea agreement. The 29-year-old man pleaded guilty last month to first-degree murder in a deal that let him avoid prosecution for a triple murder.
